Amid the coronavirus outbreak, the world of sports has been disrupted like never before. Athletes everywhere have had to make drastic changes to their usual routines.
I was given the opportunity to participate in a conference call with one of these athletes: pro-football player Todd Gurley.
A University of Georgia legend and running back for the Atlanta Falcons, Gurley shared his thoughts about COVID-19, the upcoming season, and returning to Georgia. Working with Grady Sports Media and the Athens Banner Herald, my story was published online. Read more...

2020 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials

After being paired with one of the many runners that qualified for the 2020 Olympic Trials, our class was tasked with writing a profile that told their unique story. We partnered with the Atlanta Track Club to publish our finished stories on the official Olympic Marathon Trials website.

In addition to our profiles, we traveled to Atlanta on race day. Trekking through the city, we followed our athletes from mile marker to mile marker, covering their progress on Twitter.

Mizzou Women's Basketball

Working from home during the coronavirus pandemic, our class was tasked with looking back on the stats from this year's unfinished season.
I was assigned to the University of Missouri women's basketball team.
​
Looking back through the Lady Tiger's record and talking with a Mizzou athletics beat writer, I then wrote a short article about the most telling statistic of their season.
​
To support my findings, I created two infographics which summed up the Tiger's troubles with ball control.

Georgia v. Samford Softball
in-game social media coverage and recap
Just as softball season picked up in February, our class was sent out on a field assignment to Jack Turner Stadium in Athens, Georgia.
With a notebook, a roster of each team, and our Twitter accounts, we watched from the stands while recording stats, filming the atmosphere, and live-tweeting the game.

Though the game ended, our job was not finished. We were then tasked with writing a concise play-by-play game recap of the Georgia Bulldogs 8-0 victory over Samford.
